Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
Season Opening, 03rd until 05th May 2013
Season Finale, 18th until 20th October 2013
Compact and high-quality: in 2013, DTM wants to provide its fans even more thrilling motor racing. BMW ace Bruno Spengler will have to contest 10 races, for his title-defence campaign. This means that the 2013 race calendar of the most popular international touring-car series comprises the same number of races as this year’s. The highlight of the 2013 season will be the maiden DTM race in Russia that will be held at Moscow Raceway on 4th August a stone’s throw from Russia’s capital. Due to the extraordinary attractiveness of this new market, DTM foregoes the abroad event in Spain, this year.
Altogether, six of the ten races will be held on German soil, next year, with the other four taking the DTM fraternity abroad. In addition to the two rounds at the Moscow Raceway and Zandvoort, the three premium-car manufacturers involved - Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz - will have to contest another two races on foreign soil: on 19th May at Brands Hatch/GB and two weeks later, on 2nd June, at Austria’s Red Bull Ring, located not far from Spielberg. Meanwhile, the ’German season’ comprises the season kick-off (5th May) and season finale (20th October) at Hockenheim and the aforementioned races in Nuremberg and at Oschersleben as well as the rounds at the Lausitzring (16th July) and the Nürburgring (18th August).
On every single race weekend, the most popular international touring-car series will provide motor racing at its best - and for the entire family. The race weekends are kicked off on Friday morning with the roll-out, followed by two practice sessions held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon, in the four-step qualifying session, the drivers will battle it out for the best positions on the starting grid for the race that will be started on Sunday at 14:00hrs. And throughout the weekend, the Formula 3 Euro Series and other partner series will make for loads of single-seater and tin-top race action. To cut a long story short: in 2013, the fans once again may look forward to thrilling and attractive motor sport accompanied by a multifaceted and eventful support programme.
Once again, fans can look forward to an action-packed event at Hockenheim.
